Alumni Visits

We are thrilled that so many alumni come to visit us!  For students who are not enrolled at our school but wish to visit us (typically alumni) the following rules apply:

1) Pre-arrange and get approval from a teacher – that teacher will be responsible for the student during their visit.  Teacher contact information can be found by clicking “Our People” above.

2) Visits are limited to no more than 2 hours.

3) All visitors must sign in at the front office upon arrival, and must sign out when leaving.

botb-new-300x87 Battle of the Books

DCS Family and friends,
We are so excited to announce that Battle of the Books battle season is almost here! Everyone is invited to attend one of the battles, if you are interested! Here are a few facts to know:
  • Our Battles take place at the PS Miller Library in Castle Rock.
  • Please be on time, late attendees will disrupt the battle and may not be allowed in.
  • Please show our Cougar spirit and be respectful audience members. It is a formal and competitive program. We have a wonderful reputation in the district and our families are a big part of that!
  • WEAR GREEN! That is our school BOTB color. If you have a green shirt, show your DCS pride!
Hope to see you there!

What is the Battle of the Books all about?
Douglas County Libraries’ Battle of the Books program started in the 2008-2009 school year. It has been a rousing success ever since!  Each school that participates has a 3/4 grade team and a 5/6 grade team. The students read 10 books from a set list. The teams compete against each other in inter-school battles and then a bracket-style tournament of 8 teams to determine the winner for the branch.  After the final branch battles, the winning teams move onto a district battle to determine the winners for all of Douglas County.
