Administration

Jeromy Johnson, Head of School

2032364 AdministrationI was born in Wyoming, and while I am a Wyoming Cattle Rancher’s son, I have lived in several states, but have now called Colorado my home for over 15 years and counting.  I live happily with my two wonderful boys, a beautiful wife who teaches Middle School students, and a couple of dogs who keep us busy!

Professionally, I taught Science at the High School and Middle School level for many years in addition to coaching Basketball at the varsity level. I also worked many years in developing high school boys as mentors for middle school boys to coach them on healthy decision making. I have both undergraduate and masters degrees in education, am licensed by the state of Colorado as a Teacher, a Principal and as a Superintendent. I also have an American Montessori Society (AMS) Administrator’s credential from the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in New York.

Sheila Wolfe, Director of Lower School

2032364 AdministrationI am a Colorado native from Littleton.

I started working here at DCSM in 2005 as a Lower Elementary teacher. In 2010, my career advanced and currently I am the Montessori Curriculum Director.  I have a strong sense of pride in our fabulous school, students, parents, teachers, and staff.

I am a member of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Montessori Association since its beginning in August, 2012.  We have done an incredible amount of work to advocate for Montessori education.  I hold two Montessori Certifications in Primary and Lower Elementary from the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies.  I have been teaching in private and public Montessori schools for over 20 years.  It is my passion in life.  Life is rewarding when your work allows you to practice your beliefs on a daily basis.

I have a B.A. and Master’s of Education from Regis University. In addition, I hold a Colorado Teaching License as well as a Principal’s License.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, embroidery, and I am a bluegrass enthusiast.

“It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower just beginning to bloom.  Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.”  Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind.

Samhee Shim, Director of Upper School

2032364 Administration

As a lifelong learner, I’ve always wanted to know more about what comes next when the children left my classroom. This love of learning led me to take Lower Elementary Montessori training when I was teaching at the Primary level, and I continued into Upper El after that. I completed the Principal Licensure program from Western Colorado University. My job is supporting and working with the Upper El and Middle School staff, students, and parents. My goal is to create a stronger community and continue growing the Upper El and Middle School programs.

I hold Colorado teaching certification in Secondary (English Language Arts), Elementary, and Early Childhood, and Linguistically Diverse Education. I earned a Master’s degree in education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.

I became a teacher because of the positive influences from my own childhood teachers. I love teaching and enjoy my job immensely! I live with my husband, Greg, who is also Montessori credentialed, and our cat Goldie. Our daughter, Samera, who is a DCS Montessori alumni, is attending college in NYC.

Kristina Baxter, Academic Dean

2032364 AdministrationMy family and I travelled the world with the military and returned to our home state of Colorado in 2006.  I was thrilled to find out that Douglas County had a Montessori school.  Word of mouth, a little research, and a touch of fortune in the lottery, made DCSM our son’s new educational home. I had a traditional teaching job at the time, but as I dropped him off and picked him up, I thought how wonderful it would be to be part of the DCSM staff. Just a short year later, the door at DCSM opened in the form of Reading Specialist and Assessment Coordinator.

My position is a natural pairing with my Bachelor of Arts in Education, with endorsements in Reading and Language Arts, from Upper Iowa University, which had Montessori influence. In addition to my Colorado State Teaching License (K-8), I also hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision, a Colorado K-12 Principal’s License, and Gifted and Talented Certification from Regis University.

While I am proud of my work to support Reading where we are a high achieving school, I am embracing my new title as Academic Dean where my role has me as part of DCS Montessori Middle School team for half of my time. I am privileged to be a part of this exciting program that meets children at their level, on their terms, in meaningful ways that grow tomorrow’s learners and leaders.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two children, the world’s best dog, and a sometimes friendly cat. Hikes through our wonderful mountains, watching various sporting events, and lots of reading help me find new ways to continue to learn and grow.
