Field Days for Elementary students:  Be sure to apply sunscreen on your child prior to sending them to school—they will be outdoors and may need that protection.  Field Day is on Wednesday, May 5th.  Primary students do not participate in Field Day and Middle School students have their own fun day.

Your help is needed to support our Field Day Events.  Click here to provide needed items.

Graduations, Concerts and Moving Up Ceremonies:  We are expecting crowds for our graduation and moving up ceremonies.  Please arrive early to allow time to park on Max Drive (one block west of the main campus) and walk to school, if needed.

Your children’s teachers will let you know about any end of the school year celebrations.

Name Cards and Bar Codes for Dismissal:  Please keep these for next year. While we will be sending home new cards in the fall, it’s very helpful if you can hold onto your old cards until you receive your new ones.

Lost and Found:  Please come to school and go through our Lost and Found articles.  All unclaimed Lost and Found items will be donated to charity after the last day of school.

Key Fobs / Cards:  You should keep your Key Fobs / Cards and use them next year.  If you will no longer have students at our school, stop by the front office to return your keycard—your deposit ($13 per card) will be refunded to you by mail.

From our Library:

We have had a fun year in the library. Although we are done with our traveling Around the Library in 80ish Days, our adventures are not over. We are nearing the end for this year though, and want to let you know about our happenings. We are taking a walking field trip to visit and tour the Castle Pines Library. On Friday, May 3rd we will be visited again by Page to Stage! We are so excited to see what wonderful story they will bring to life through an amazing theater adventure. The week of May 6th, the public library will be coming in to do “Review Crew” and will let us know about some wonderful new fiction we can read over the summer and they will tell us about their summer reading program.  The week of May 13th Spellbinders will be coming into the library to share traditional stories and personal history tales in unique ways.

Here are a few important dates to remember for the library:

  • Friday, May 10th: Last day to check out books
  • Monday, May 12th: All books due back
  • Friday, May 17th: Overdue reminder emails will be sent out for any books still out
  • Friday, May 24th: All books still out will be marked lost and fines will be assessed
  • Friday, May 31st: Fines will be posted to Infinite Campus accounts

We are almost there, travelers! It’s been a great ride!

Seeking Members for our SAC

August 24, 2018 @ 1:36 pm posted by Brycie Strother

Dear Parents –

Looking for a way to make a difference in our school? We are seeking a new member to join our School Accountability Committee. We need a parent members (a parent of a currently enrolled student).

The purpose of the School Accountability Committee (SAC) is to inform, to encourage, and provide opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. The SAC assists the head of school in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that guide the growth and improvement of DCSM efforts toward achieving overall academic excellence. The Committee also works to provide a balance between the requirements mandated by the State of Colorado and Douglas County School District, and the special endeavors of our school to provide a unique, rich learning environment that embodies the teachings of the Montessori Method.

What Does the SAC Do?

  • Meet at the school approx. 6 times annually Include parents, non-parents, teachers and the head of school.
  • Develop the annual School Improvement Plan (as required by the school district)
  • Develop, analyze and report on school surveys.
  • Have fun guiding the creation of an educational environment that enables our students to excel academically, as well as to develop individually.

Interested? Terrific! Please email us at admin@dcsmontessori.org with “SAC” in the subject line. Tell us a bit about yourself (one paragraph is fine) and tell us why you’d like to join the SAC (one paragraph is fine here too).

Thanks for your support of DCS Montessori!
