• The first day of school for K—8 students is Thursday, August 8th
• The first day of school for P3 students* (3-year-old preschoolers) is Monday, August 12th
• The first day of school for P4 students (4-year-old preschoolers) is Tuesday, August 13th
• Our Open House on Wednesday, August 7th. This is a great time for students who are new to the classroom to meet their teacher as well as a few classmates. New Primary students (Preschool & Kindergarten) will get an email from their teachers about visiting. New students in 1st-8th grades, as well as students moving up to 1st and 4th, and 7th grades, please see the schedule below. Also, if your child has a new teacher, they can come meet their new teacher!
• Lower Elementary (1st-3rd grade) students visit from 1:15 – 2:15pm.
• Upper Elementary (4th-6th grade) students come from 2:30 – 3:30pm.
• Middle School – students will be notified by their Advisory teachers
• Parking for Open House – this will be very messy. Plan to arrive early enough to find a parking spot off site and to walk to our school as our parking lot will likely fill up quickly. You can park in our parking lot, or consider parking along Max Drive (just west of our Main Campus).
• Express Check-in will take place starting mid-July and ending in early August (specific dates will be emailed to you in July).  This is a mandatory enrollment procedure where you provide us updated information about your child online.  We will email you with details later this summer.
• Who will your child’s teacher be next year? As a Montessori school, students generally remain with the same teacher for a three-year cycle. The cycles are Preschool & Kindergarten; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades; 4th, 5th and 6th grades; 7th and 8th grades. If your child will have a new teacher you will find the teacher’s name by accessing your account on the Campus Portal starting on July 10th (possibly earlier). Log in, click your child’s name at the top, and click “Schedule” on the left. You will also be able to link directly to that teacher’s email address. Preschool Parents who are new to the district were sent access credentials to their Campus Portal account soon after July 1st. K-8th grade parents created their Campus Portal account when they did Open Enrollment.
• Picture day will be on Wednesday, September 4th, with retakes on Thursday, October 10th.
• Our primary means of communication is via email—please be sure you can receive emails from the email address “noreply@dcsdk12.org.”

*If your child will not be 3 years of age on the first day of school, you will need to wait until their 3rd birthday to start. If you have questions, please email admin@dcsdk12.org.
