All three Odyssey of the Minds teams had their State Competition this weekend at Fossil Ridge High School in Ft. Collins! The three teams that competed were Division II Vehicle, Division II Technical, and Division II Structure.
The Technical team competed first with a beautiful performance about a day at the circus with a technical robot animal which placed them winning the 2nd place spot.
The Vehicle Team and the Structure team competed at the same time in different rooms, which was a bummer for the students and parents who wanted to support their friends and classmates on either team. The Structure team had a hard blow when their structure fell, leaving them heartbroken in 4th place. That’s always a hard thing for any of the teams to watch after all of the hard work.
The Vehicle team had an amazing, student-built, battery-powered, ride-on car that took them to a land of Candy and a race to save the Cotton Candy Queen. Not only did they win First place sending them to the World Competition in Michigan, but they also took home the coveted highest honor of the Renatra Fusca Award which is given to the team or person that goes above and beyond creative thinking and problem-solving.
Be sure to stop by the front desk to see the trophies for now. They’ll be on display in the case along with the First Place flag and a few of the props soon. All teams and coaches worked hard for us this year and I hope if you see any of them, you will thank them for representing us well and tell them all good job!
Go DCSM! We are very proud of all three of our wonderful teams!!!
